My training really comes down to basics. I ski slowly and work on a couple of basic movement patterns, which I've been working on since I was 10 years old, trying to perfect them. All participants of Mount Peter’s Alpine Race Program are required to wear a helmet at all times, be a member of NJSRA and USSA. Athletes in the Mount Peter Alpine Race Program will be a member of New Jersey Ski Racing Association. Most races are in New Jersey for J IV’s and under. J III’s and older will do some traveling to Vermont. End of season races can take racers of all levels all over the east coast. 2009 – 2010 Alpine Race Center Description of Programs
Welcome to the 2009-2010 Ski Racing Season! The following is a listing of programs, practice times and fees for this year . But first we would like to congratulate Coach Phil Godwin on becoming NJSRA's Coach of the Year for 2009!
This season we have 4 levels of racing to introduce. If you have questions about any of the race programs please contact the Mount Peter tent at the Ski Swap and Sale October 17th and 18th. We'll be happy to answer any of your questions or give the mountain a call. Level 1: Dynamites: - This program is geared for children ages 6-9 that are intermediate skiers. The participants will learn new skiing skills that will last them a life time and learn the first instructional phases of ski racing. This program meets on Saturdays from 9am to 12 noon starting January 9th thru March 6th. Prerequisites for this program: are able to ride chair lift alone, ski intermediate terrain confidently, and children must be able to get up by themselves with no assistance if they have fallen. Helmets and Mount Peter Race Club membership are required. The program costs $275.00. Price increases after 10/18/09 for those that have participated in a Mount Peter Alpine Race Center Program before. Level 2: New This Year: "The Dev Team" - This program is new this season. This program is the 2nd stepping stone to the race program for our upcoming ski racing athletes. This is geared for Accomplished Intermediate/Expert Skiers that want to learn more about ski racing, enhance their skills and have a few ski races at other mountains with the new NJSRA Youth Ski League. This program is for 7-10 year olds. It starts January 9th and ends March 6th and meets Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to 3pm. The cost is $395.00. Perquisites for this program: Ski expert terrain confidently and be able to ride chairlift alone. Helmets and Mount Peter Race Club membership are required. Price increases after 10/18/09 for those that have participated in a Mount Peter Alpine Race Center Program before. Level 3: New this year: " The Advanced Dev Team" - This program is designed for our ski racing athletes who want to travel and train as a J5 athlete. This is for racers ages 7 and 8. Helmets and Coaches recommendation are required. USSA/NJSRA and Mount Peter Race Club membership are also required. See J5 details for pricing information and training times. Price increases after 10/18/09 for those that have participated in a Mount Peter Alpine Race Center Program before. Level 4: Full Race Program: J5 ages 9& 10 (YOB 1999 & 2000); J4 ages 11 & 12 (YOB 1997 & 1998) - These athletes meet on Saturdays and Sundays from 9:30am-3:00pm and Wednesday nights from 6:15-8:30pm. Helmets and body armor are required. USSA/NJSRA and Mount Peter Race Club membership are also required. Please see race application form for pricing details. J3 ages 13 & 14 (YOB 1995 & 1996); J2 ages 15 & 16 (YOB 1993 & 1994); J1 ages 17-19 (YOB 1991 & 1992) - These athletes meet on Saturdays and Sundays from 8:30am-2:00pm and Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6:15-8:30pm.
